Spring is Here! April 15, 2010

And that means Mother's day is around the Corner. I only have a few rocks left over from winter projects, or try something new.... a canvas or something. Mothers day is less than a month away, and I need at least a week to paint. Don't be left disappointed, get your order in now.

my first rock paintingPaintings... It all started out with this rock in my Mother-in-laws garden, that she had written all the grandkids name on, with paint. I loved the idea and decided to give each of my children their own rock with their name on it, to place in our garden at home. Soon the addition of a larger rock adorned the main entrance to the house with our family name on it. I started getting comments and interest in it, until one day a friend of ours requested a commission piece of his own. The "Beland rock" was my first paid project, and holds a special place amongst all my work. Since then I have had the pleasure of working on a multitude of media, from drift wood to a gymnasium floor to material sewn into a flag. I will try almost anything, in my studio or on-site. Please browse the Paintings gallery and leave any comments that you like, and if you have a request no matter how big or small please contact me.

Graphic Designs...started just as innocently as my paintings did, and I guess you could say it completed this whole "artsy" lifestyle that has enveloped my life. I wanted to do some scrap booking, but having just spent all our savings and credit on an education I had no money to buy material, and with a young child at home no space to lay it all out in. So I searched the web for digital scrap booking ideas and started to dabble in Adobe Photoshop. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew it I was creating a logo that has been adopted by the local high school, and is in print on all their stationary and school wear. I walk through our small town and see the MHS logo on the kids school shirts and even on the schools message board. The whole sense of pride that I got from seeing my design out in the public was enough to send me out for an education in design. I have been working with the Township of Wawa for almost 2 years now, designing anything from billboards to magazine ads. I love what I do and thrive on being challenged. Check out my previous work in the Graphic Design Gallery.
